Retired commonwealth employees eligible for medical insurance are part of the REHP. The REHP (Retired Employees Health Plan) is administered by the Office of Administration and PEBTF (PA Employees Benefit Trust Fund). Although these medical benefits are not guaranteed, the Office of Administration has acknowledged that these benefits are in part a recognition of the service provided by the retirees.

Each year at the annual PARSE Governing Board Meeting the Office of Administartion does a presentation on retiree medical benefits and any chages or addition to those programs.

The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees(PARSE) was established in 1973 and incorporated in 1974 under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Non-Profit Corporation Law. In 1981, PARSE was granted status as a non-profit association under the Internal Revenue Service chapter 501(c)(5) regulations to provide health benefits to any retiree receiving a pension from any of the retirement systems offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PARSE continues to offer health benefits that a retiree loses upon retirement as well as other benefits of interest to retirees.
