Membership in PARSE is open to anyone receiving a pension, or eligible to receive a pension, from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as their spouse or domestic partner. In addition PARSE is open to an individual receiving, or eligible to receive, a retirement from TIAA as well as their spouse or domestic partner. Note: you must be a member of PARSE to take advantage of our group insurance programs. You may also apply for insurance at the same time you join PARSE, there are no waiting periods.

PARSE membership runs on a calendar year basis with dues invoices sent out each October for the following year. Dues renewals are payable on or before December 31st of the year in which the invoices are mailed.
If you become a new member of PARSE between October 1st and December 31st of any year, your $20.00 dues payment will include membership for both the current year and the following year, after which you will receive a dues invoice.
Dependent children, under 26, living at home or in college do not need to be a member of PARSE to be eligible for benefits but one or both parents or legal guardian eligible to be a PARSE member must be a PARSE member.

The Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees(PARSE) was established in 1973 and incorporated in 1974 under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Non-Profit Corporation Law. In 1981, PARSE was granted status as a non-profit association under the Internal Revenue Service chapter 501(c)(5) regulations to provide health benefits to any retiree receiving a pension from any of the retirement systems offered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PARSE continues to offer health benefits that a retiree loses upon retirement as well as other benefits of interest to retirees.
